Welcome to our Little Free Fiber Library in Downtown East Lansing! Our LFFL provides free materials to MSU students and local knitters/crocheters/ weavers/sewists who may not be able to afford materials, or those that are doing charity donation work.

Please read the following guidelines carefully:

Donation Guidelines

  • All yarn must be clean, dry, smoke-free, and insect-free.
  • Knitting Needles and Crochet hooks should be in good condition. We *can* pair unmatched needles, so if you only have 1, we can still take it.
  • Magazines should be clean, dry, and smoke and insect-free. No moldy magazines or books.
  • Yarn should be packaged in clean, UNSCENTED garbage bags/grocery bags or in tubs. Tubs will not be returned. Do not put fabric softener sheets in bags or tubs.
  • Books/magazines/patterns should be packaged in boxes, crates or paper bags. Boxes and Crates will not be returned.
  • Knitting needles / crochet hooks can be rubber banded together. (sets can be donated with cases, if desired.)
  • Tools can be put in ziplock bags.
  • We can also take fabric, same rules apply.
Donated materials will either go to the Little Free Fiber Library (available for free - mostly to MSU students), the MSU Knitting Circle, the Lansing Area Knitter's Guild for their charity work, or to local school systems in the Greater Lansing area. Some yarn may be kept back for local yarn bombing projects and in-house class use/events if appropriate. Fabric may be used for Scrapfest.
Large lots of yarn/material or yarn/material that has lingered may be batched, packaged and sold at our biannual clearance sales at very low prices to cover the administration time of the LFFL and to make sure we are not storing donations for too long or if we are running out of storage space.
If your materials don't meet these criteria, you may want to donate them to St. Vincent in REO Town, Goodwill, or the VoA.
If you would like to donate material, please email us at wovenartshop AT gmail DOT com so we can arrange a drop-off time. Please do not leave donations at the door while we are closed.
